Users can subscribe to a mailing list to be kept up to date with the latest codes, and can send links to friends if the find codes that may be of interest to them. They can also submit any codes they find out and about on the internet that may be useful to site users. Customers can also discuss codes they have found and also report any broken ones, keeping the site fresh and up to date.

Apple have launched their new super lightweight MacBook Air - “the World’s thinnest notebook”, and it does look pretty smart. It is ultra thin and ultra lightweight and is ideal for people who regularly carry a laptop around with them.

It has the usual Apple features, including a backlit keyboard for those who like to work in the dark, and has a 13.3 inch LED backlit screen. It has a multi-touch trackpad which allows you to pinch and zoom in the same way as the iPhone - not sure how much use it will be on a laptop where the screen is large enough to see what’s going on without it.

One obvious omission from the hardware is the lack of an optical drive to keep size and weight down. Apple have got over this by using wireless to share a drive from another PC or Mac for things like software installations etc. An external optical drive is also available.

With 2GB memory, 1.6 or 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and an 80GB hard drive its should be powerful enough for all but the most demanding applications. A solid state hard drive is also available at extra cost (not sure how much).

Prices start at $1799 in the US and the MacBook air starts shipping in two weeks - no idea on pricing or shipping times in the UK yet, and since I’ve just got a relatively new MacBook Pro, I don’t think I’ll be needing the pricing for some time

Should you fill up your home screen, you can now have additional screens that you scroll between with your finger by swiping the screen… so you could have Safari links to Affiliate Window, Paid on Results, etc, etc. You can also rearrange the icons on each screen to suit your preference. I’ve moved SMS from the home screen to the dock at the bottom, because I use it more than iTunes which is there currently. To move an icon, just tap and hold until they all begin to “wiggle” - a cool effect

Another useful feature (and one woefully lacking in previous iPhone software versions) is the ability to send SMS messages to multiple recipients - it pretty obvious how to do it when you go to send a text, and its a welcome addition to SMS functionality.

Maps has also been updated with a location finder facility - presumably it uses mobile phone masts somehow - anyway, it works but was only accurate to within half a mile or so of my location - useful but certainly not GPS or accurate enough for true navigation. Nifty none the less.

As usual the iPhone update is done via iTunes, and all went well. So, all in all a good update but there are still a few things need sorting in my eyes:

1. Finally release 3rd party applications rather than the largely useless “web apps” which are really just web sites as opposed to applications truly using the iPhone capabilities (and don’t make us have to crack the phone to get them!)

2. Release movie content on the UK version of iTunes - at the moment any video content redirects to the US version, and you can’t get an account on it unless you have a US credit card and billing address

If you have your merchants in seperate campaigns in Adwords, then use the excellent tool Affmeter to keep track of earnings you can get a (more or less) up to the minute P&L on each of your campaign.

With Affmeter you can list revenue by merchant name over a period then just compare this with your click costs and bingo… an instant P&L account for each day.

Ok, so some cookies might be set on a different day from which a sale takes place, but if you look on those as a bonus then you can be pretty happy with your P&L.

During daily analysis of our return on investment from various campaigns, we sometimes notice a sharp drop in ROI. Some analysis is called for.

In many cases this is because a merchant has run out of stock and so all the valuable traffic paid for from Adowrds goes to waste. Some merchants do allow customers to register to be notified when stock arrives (a good thing!) but in the end it generally wasted traffic. Now this isn’t so bad if you have a few products, but if you have a few thousand then it takes some keeping on top of.

To be honest we don’t go through every keyword every day, we just look at the ones with significant spend, and therefore significant traffic and then make sure all the merchants still have stock.

Time consuming but well worth it!
